We are delighted to announce that Karel & Joe, the eighth installment in John Roman Baker’s acclaimed Nick & Greg Books, will officially be published by Wilkinson House on October 31, 2026.
About the Novel Spanning decades from the 1950s to the present day, The Nick & Greg Books chart an intimate, unflinching portrait of gay men bound together by passion, loyalty, and the long arc of memory.
In Karel & Joe, the baton passes to Karel, whose rich history across the series spans from his initial meeting with Greg in 1963, through decades of communal life and his long partnership with Nathan. Karel returns to London, re-entering the shifting social currents of Chelsea. His path crosses with Joe: a young man, unmoored and with no permanent address. What begins as an act of shelter deepens into a connection that forces both men to confront the past—its loyalties, its losses, and its unfinished stories.
As past and present converge, their story moves from the capital to the familiar refuge of Brighton, where old ghosts and new hopes meet.
